I know Augusta is a long drive for most of you, but Bond Brook is such a killer place.  The opportunities are getting better and better too -- You can run from there to the Rail Trail, go several miles, end up in Vaughn's Woods in Hallowell (several more miles, and you can add in a speed workout at the Hall Dale track, which connects by a short side path), back to the Rail Trail, to Gardiner (4-5 more miles?) back to Augusta, to the UMA trails (via Bond Brook).   Or cross the river right near the Rail Trail, where I believe there is a trail that links to the Arboretum, and all its trails.

It's sort of amazing to me that Augusta, a place everyone loves to hate, has this gem of a trail system, right smack in the middle of it.  I have no idea how many miles this-all is but it's a lot, and my point is, it's worth the drive if you need some very hilly variety.

Okay, enough raving for the moment.  Feel free to give a shout if you want to come down this way!   The trails don't have good signs yet and it can be really confusing in there; I'd be glad to attempt to help show anyone around.

I would love to check that out sometime!!! Sounds awesome and exploring new places is half the fun of trail running (to me).

I'll have to check out that system next time we go up to visit Erin's folks. They have quite a few trail systems up that way, might be a good trip some time this Summer with a convenient spot to stop for lunch and a swim afterwards. Would even have some built-in babysitting available for us so Erin & I could both run.

Sounds like we should make a group trip to Disgusta the week after Pineland.

I grew up in Readfield and used a lot of those trails to get from my house to a friend's house with my dirt bike. It was a fun adventure and yes, there are a lot of trails. I only had to walk my bike across the old downtown bridge and then back on the trails.

Glad there is potentially some interest. :D  Sometime on the first weekend of June should work on this end.

Cool Chuck, that's where I reside at the moment.  Readfield trails are yet another whole slew of awesome!  Every few months I find new ones.  It's insane.  There tend to be bits of roads in between them, otherwise there would simply have to be a fatass, asap.

Yeah, anyone who wants to show off some trails in the Readfield area in July or August, that would be super appreciated.  My folks live on the Readfield side of Mount Vernon, on Echo Lake.  It would be awesome to know some trails around there and I'm pretty sure we could work lunch and a swim into the deal!

Slowly narrowing down a time frame on this...probably going to be a Saturday, June 2, 8 or 9am type of thing.  Would that work?  Sunday afternoon might also work as an alternative.  Are people more interested in a fatass style course or in just exploring, or what else?  Feel free to unleash thoughts as they occur.

(The only weirdness, that I am just now noticing as I type, is that there is a big trail maintenance thing happening at 9am that day.  Probably not a big deal - only weird because the place is usually empty.)
