I can't stand not knowing what I'm getting in to, so I'm making my own course map for the Peak 50. I realize that there are going to be changes to the course, but I went ahead and mapped it out based on the old course map and Sherpa John's report from 2010 (with help from Acme Mapper 2.0)

I even included useful things like where the damn thing starts, which direction we run and approximate aid station locations. This is just a low resolution rough draft (attached). When/if a finalized course map is produced by the race director I will update this one, print on waterproof paper and bring it with me to the race. I can do the same for anyone else who is interested.

I think one of the biggest unknowns about the course (as far as I unknow) is what the 10 mile loop looks like at the end, I've just represented that with a squiggly line.

One other thing, the colors aren't just there to make it look pretty...

Red = dirt road
Orange = jeep road
Yellow = trail
