to Traffic Oakland 22x NCPC
Over the last few months increased late afternoon and evening
activities in the Woodminster area have led to increased concerns
about traffic and parking that produces adverse traffic impacts.
The growing success of Monaghan's On the Hill, a restaurant, lounge
and sports bar, at 2820 Mountain Boulevard has resulted in increased
demand for parking along Mountain Boulevard, Werner Court, Woodminster
Lane, Woodside Glen Court and Kearney Avenue. As a result, vehicles
are often parked in or adjacent to pedestrian crosswalks reducing the
visibility of pedestrians trying to cross streets. Such parking also
narrows the space for vehicles turning into or out of the named side
streets to Mountain.
At a recent meeting of Kearney Avenue neighbors, it was reported that
an increasing number of apparently intoxicated persons leave the
restaurant and bar and stagger to their vehicles. Some, parked on
Kearney, then tromp through residental, curb-side plantings to their
cars and speed up the street to turn around or round the block through
Argyle and Dublin to leave the neighborhood. On one recent occassion,
celebrants reportedly leaving a bachelor party at Monaghan's On the
Hill at 2:00 am woke neighbor's on Kearney Avenue with loud shouting
before speeding off in their cars.
Other neighbors with concerns should use this forum to note traffic
problems or suggest solutions.
