to Traffic Oakland 22x NCPC
Boston and MacArthur – Meeting with City of Oakland, Aug 7, 2008
Summary
Attendees: Owen Li, Traffic Working Group Member
Richard Cowan, Chief of Staff/Jean Quan’s Office
Pat Raburn, Traffic Working Group Coordinator
Alan Chan, City of Oakland Traffic Engineer
Five items for follow-up
1. Add two signs on MacArthur, approaching Lincoln Court. Signs say:
SLOW – Senior Facility.
2. Paint existing crosswalk yellow with cross hatch – this apparently
can happen, but still need timeline from Alan.
3. Two pedestrian signs in middle of MacArthur: one located in
existing crosswalk and second one located in the middle of MacArthur
on the non-crosswalk side.
4. Obtain measurement from the signal light at Lincoln to the non-
crosswalk side to determine actual length. Some concern that distance
is not sufficient to put another crosswalk there, but getting
measurements to ensure we’re dealing with the facts and then compare
versus the Caltrans guidelines.
5. Letters to be written requesting assistance:
a. From Helen Yuen (Lincoln Court Mgr) to Jean Quan requesting the
signage indicating Senior Facility (#1 above). CC to R. Cowan, and P.
Raburn
b. From 22XNCPC/Traffic Working Group (written by P. Raburn) to Darian
Avelino (A. Chan’s supervisor), copy to W. Wlassowsky, J. Quan, R.
Cowan, and Alan Chan.
