Syed Hasnain Bukhari is a research scholar hailing from a family of renowned `Ulamā (scholars and masters of spirituality and philosophy). He formally studied the dars-e-nizāmī syllabus of the traditional Islamic sciences at Dār al-`Ulūm al-Qādirīyyah al-Jīlānīyyah under the supervision of the prolific scholar and author Grand Muftī Ghulām Rasūl Jamātī (rahimahullah). After completion, he embarked upon his University education and studied Philosophy at the University of St Andrews and then completed MPhil in History and Philosophy from the University of Oxford. Thereafter, he taught Philosophy and World History at the American University, and currently is researching for his PhD proposal. As his name mentions he is a decendent of the noble house of the Prophet Muhammad sallaho alaihi walihi wasalam from the children of Ali bin Abi Talib and specifically Imam Muhammad Al-Taqi. As he writes his last name Bukhari, he is from a scholarly family that had made Bukhara, Samarkand the base of Islamic thought which produced scholars like Imam Bukhari, Imam Tirmidhi, and a glaxy of scholars of Medival Classical Islamic period. They migrated to South Asia and then currently to the United Kingdom. His father Syed Zahid Hussain Bukhari is regarded as one of the great living scholars alive today.
