Muharram Programs Recap - Today at University of Toronto, Saturday at Islamic Forum of Canada

Asalamualikum Everyone,

This past Muharram we have seen many Sunni Masjids unfortunately silent on discussing the events of Karbala, the virtues of Ahle Bayt and the epic struggle of Imam Al Husayn against injustice.  Discussing the events of Karbala is a fully Sunni-Sufi Tradition in the Central-South Asian continent that has existed for 1000 years.  Starting with Shah Waliullah, Mujjadid Alf Thani, Abul Haq Dehlavi, Ashraf Ali Thanvi, Ahmed Raza Khan, Naqshabandi Order, Iraq, Iran, Azerbijan, Bukhara, Samarkand, Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, Kenya, Egypt, Morrocco, etc.  Those who are spreading this practice belongs to only the Jafari school are wrong and are unaware of the great Islamic Tradition.  We are in the process of publishing the practices and teachings of the great leaders of the Ahle Sunnah Wal Jamaah and the Sufi Masters such as Ibn Arabi, Khawaja Moinuddin Chisti, Ali Hujeweri, Shah Abdul Aziz Dehlavi (Elder for Deobandi and Barelvi Schools), Imam Mizzi (Tahzeeb ul Kamaal) , Allam Shawkani (Salafi), etc.  

This is partly due to the Iran and Saudi Arabia schism that has spilled into our faith with both sides funding their causes.  One side is funding the spread of Shism (Pro-Ahlul Bayt) and the other Wahhabi Nasibism (undermining and opposing the Shia school).  

We are the Ummah of balance as Ahle Sunnah Wal Jamaah.

At the same time we have seen several Sunni, Shia and Ismaili Centres and Sufi Centres hold programs to teach the public on the lives of Ahle Bayt, Imam Al Husayn and great tragic events of Karbala and the causes of the decline of the Ummah that lead to those events.

Over 50 Masjids and centres did conferences, programs and events on this and we should use the month of Muharram to start the year with trying to unite our ranks and leave the mind set of sectarianism.
