Dear Colleagues,

I've added Linda Larkey to our group from the University of Arizona.
Linda and I are going to work with Jeannette to submit a grant
proposal originating from the University of Arizona to study
traditional healing. I'm going to try to get an appointment at the
University of Arizona, where I used to work, to facilitate this.

I'm posting this page because we should keep in mind that we might be
able to get funding through the military -- either Canadian or
American. And perhaps to explore how traditional healing would help
non-aboriginal people as well. And perhaps PTSD would be more timely
than diabetes or depression.

Does anyone know Dr. Gillies at the VA Medical Center -- Albuquerque?
Would anyone have time to try to track him down? Also, could anyone
look for requests for proposals for PTSD and/or combat-returning vets.

I'd like to try work this effort into high gear now and get funding.

Lewis,

After you took off from the spirituality conference I had a chance to
get to know Hillary Weaver a bit. She was the key note speaker and is
an aboriginal woman who has a track record of health research with
aboriginal people. She has an excellent tracj record - and has been
special consultant at the UN. She said she was interested in the
diabetes study and I offered to send the current draft to her. She is at
the U. of Buffalo.

I also say that we can do PTSD thru the military and still do the
diabetes. Doing both in one proposal may be too much.

No, definitely, I would not want to do both in the same proposal.  I'm thinking of separate venues, of possibly looking into military funding as well as federal money (NIH, CIHR).

I sent her an email with a preliminary graft. Let's wait and see what
she says.
