hormonal drop that most women experience as they grow older, but more
gradual。
While men may not suffer hot flashes like women who experience
menopause, middle-aged men's bodies do undergo major changes --
including hormonal ones.
At age 50, John Upton said he hit midlife and hit rock bottom.
Upton, a documentary filmmaker and father of four, was newly-divorced
and feeling more lost than ever.
"It's like you are looking at yourself, and you don't recognize the
person that you are seeing," Upton said.
He began searching for a way out of his rut -- a downward spiral he
said left him depressed, overweight and hopeless.

lives," Jed Diamond, author of "Male Menopause," said. "The depression

that don't need to die."
Doctors say millions of American men suffer the symptoms of andropause
without even knowing what it is.
Symptoms like fatigue, depression, anger, anxiety, memory loss,
relationship problems, loss of sex drive and erectile dysfunction are
common and often written off as a normal sign of aging.
Upton's doctors recommended testosterone injections, but mandated that
his hormone and blood pressure levels be tested regularly. The shots,
he says, gave him a new lease on life.
I will take the next 10 years as I am, because the way I was in those
old pictures, I don't, I wouldn't want to live another 30 years like
that," he said.
While prescriptions for testosterone products like injections and gels
have tripled in the last few years, they're not for everyone.
"We know that prostate cancer grows in the presence of testosterone,"
the UCLA Urology Program's Dr. Christopher Saigal said. "When you
remove it, the testosterone from the body, the prostate cancer goes
away."
But you won't hear any complaints from Upton. Today he's remarried and
his new wife Elizabeth Upton reports her husband acts like a man 20
years younger -- even in the bedroom.

Ok, this is an interesting problem. Maybe many clients are doubt it.
Why in epimedium 001, Dong Quai also is a important ingredients. Most
of peopel used to add Dong Quai for woman formula. In fact, chinese
good TCM doctor think it limited dong quai usage.

Why dong quai is good for woman?
Dong Quai is a good and traditional herb in China. Its real function
is to help heart and accerlate blood flow. So when woman blood was
blocked during menses, tooking dong quai can quickly help them. So in
woman formula, dong quai dosage is large. However, it didn't limited
its function. In TCM, dong quai is benefit for everyone, man, woman
and child.
Because its good function, it also be used to help gore person. If a
man falled and got gore under skin, dong quai can benefit him quickly.

in clinical practice and experimental research of Epimedium 001. The
scope of its clinical application has been extended from men's
menopausal syndrome to many chronic diseases. The range of
experimental studies has also been extended from its anti-hypertensive
effects to reproductive endocrine and anti-aging effects.
CLINICAL APPLICATION
Hypertension
A four-year-long clinical study found that the effective rate of
Epimedium 001 in lowering blood pressure is 70%-78%, and that it is
especially suitable for Shen-yin deficiency(Shen-yin deficiency is a
Chinese pingying word, it described a kinds of patients who have same
characters). In general, its effect in alleviating symptoms such as
headache, dizziness, and spontaneous sweating could be initiated after
5-10 days medication, and significant lowering of blood pressure would
begin two weeks later, with the descending of diastolic pressure by
over 1.33kPa(10 mmHg) and no rebound after taking a long-term
administration of smaller doses of Epimedium 001.
A statistical analysis on the efficacy of Epimedium 001 in treating
366 patients of primary hypertension showed that the total effective
rate was 74.59%. In addition, it can significantly improve the
hypertensive ocular fundus changes. Another report concerning a four-
year continual treatment of 328 primary hypertension patient showed
that the effective rate of Epimedium 001 in lowering blood pressure
was 78.9% for patients in stage II, 78% for patients of TCM yin-
deficiency and yang-excited type.(Yin and Yang also are Chinese
pingyin words). For patients in stage III, the effective rate of
Epimedium 001 was 57.1%.
Andropausal
Epimedium 001 was used by a doctoer for the treatment of 14 cases of
male patients suffering from andropausal (male menopause) syndrome.
After 10-30 days of treatment, clinical symptoms in patients
disappeared and their psychological state normalized. Although
recurrence occurred in a few cases, the symptoms inproved quickly
after epimedium 001 was applied again. Another doctor used epimedium
001 for 37 andropause patients. Resulted in cure in 24
patients(clinical symptoms disappeared with no recurrence found in the
one-year follow up). Effective in 13.
Orthopedic Disease
Clinical study reveals epimedium 001 many have some effects in
preventing bone loss induced by estrogen deficiency. Doctor wang
treated 100 patients of osteoporosis by administering epimedium 001 to
50 patients (32males and 18 females) of shen-yang deficency type, and
giving sexual hormone (testosterone propionate for males and
nylestriol for females) to the other 50 of non-shen-yang deficiency
type as control. After a 2-month treatment course, the effective rate
for symptoms was 92% in the epimedium group and 68% in the control
group,, and an effect in improving bone mineral densiy was shown, but
no statistically significant difference was found between the two
groups. The anthors held this could be due to the insufficient length
of the course of medication.
Prostatitis
Doctor yang studied the effect of epimedium 001 in 70 patients with
chronic prostatitis, and observed the disappearance of symptoms with
normal ourcome of urinary and prostate tests in 50 patients and no
reoccurrence in the one year follow-up period. AS for the other 20
patients, 17 showed partial disappearance of symptoms and negative
result of urinary and prostate tests. The treatment was ineffective in
3 patients, the overall effective rate bing 95.8%.
Depression
Doctor Guo used epimedium 001 for the treatment of 64 cases (26 males,
38 females) of depression, among them 2 were diagnosed as manic
depressive psychosis, 27 as involutional depression, 6 as reactive
depression,28 as depressive neurosis, and 1 as schizoaffective
depression, their duration of illness ranging from 6 months to 10
years. The treatment yielded an overall recovery rate of 93%. 22
patients were fully recovered, 38 demonstrated significant
improvement, and in only 4 patients the treatment proved to be in
vain. One year follow-up study on part of the patients showed no
relapse.
Influence in sperm
Doctor He(it is a name of the doctor) reported that epimedium 001
could increase the number and motility of sperms, decrease the number
of abnormal sperms, and shorten the time for semen liquefaction,
showing satisfactory effect in treating male infertility.
Toxic Adverse-Reaction
In available literature, there has been no report so far on any toxic
side-effects of epimeium 001. For emample, Zhang reported that no sign
of serious adverse effects was found in a 10-month-long clinical study
of patients treated with epimedium 001. Doctor chen conducted an
experiment on chronic toxicity of epimedium 001 by giving 18g/KG of
epimeidum 001 to experimental dogs daily for 20 days. No toxic
reaction was found.
