How to see eTrex Legend C on Mapsource/Basecamp

Hi All,

I am trying to help someone connect their eTrex Legend C to Mapsource. I have tried installing the USBDrivers but nothing seems to work. Are there any other suggestions out there. We are using a Win10 pc.

Hi Danie,

Mapsource may not recognise the newer GPS devices, have you tried Basecamp?
 Does the laptop recognise the devise when plugged into the computer?

Hi Lizette, 

The Legend C is actually an older model I believe. Win10 does not even pick it up when plugged in.

Hi Danie,

It sounds then as if there is something wrong with either the USB port or the cable. I'm sure you've tried different ports and cables already, have you tried to connect to a different computer? The port on the device itself may be damaged?

Lizette, 

We used a generic cable first and then switched toa Garmin cable. We have not tried another PC. I will hear if he has another one at hand to try.

PS. This unit also does not have a card slot, otherwise we could have installed maps on the card directly.
