Greetings all.

I have been in contact with Lourens at Dumela Wilderness near Pafuri who confirms that the Limpopo level is still too high to drive.  If anyone manages to cross during the next week or two, please psot when and where on this group.  I am aware that the ferry at Mapai is functioning reliably.

My appreciation.

Best wishes

Gegroet

I did the crossing 2x between 1 and 7 July on route Vilanculos and back. You can ony cross the Limpopo with a submarine or pontoon just the inflow from the Levuvu alone makes it impossible. There are 2 ferry point one 6km before T4A referance and another 6km from there, ry verby and take the second the road from there to Mapai is as "reguit soos ñ pyl" the other is mutch longer not recomended. The feries "lek soos ñ sif" and water gets bailed out all the time the holes get plugged with mud. Negotiate the crossing fee with the owner Roger before the time they stary at R1000 for a Hilux and I got away with R400. Its very hard work for the two pole puchers getting you and the leaky pontoon over the strong Limpopo to the other side please reward them.
Its a adventure but a sinking or overturning ferry is a possibility think of plan Z, "what if" I kept my pasport, wallet and phone asside just for incase.

If you need Roger's phone no whatsupp me.

Geniet die bos

Hugo

Baie dankie Hugo.

Waardeer jou terugvoer.

I know the ferry at Mapai well and have used it many times before.  I am asking on behalf of a group with 10 or more vehicles so they are hoping not to have to use the ferry as this would then take an entire day.

I have Rogers and team contacts.  Just hoping someone will be able to drive through the Limpopo within the next to weeks and report back here.

Thanks again.

Good day Also seen a pontoon crossing a number of years ago with a strong flowing Limpopo and it toppled dropping a Discovery into the river.

Regards
