Hi all,

We have a Jimny 4x4 joining us on trip in August 2026 and are wanting to get a sense of how it would handle the roads in the Nambwa Camp area in the Bwabwata National Park, Namibia.

For anyone who has stayed at Nambwa Camp:
- is the road south of Horseshoe bend navigable along the Kwando river to the border?
- Are they maintained roads or just tracks?
- What is the sand like (deep all the way or just in patches)?
- Is there an extensive network of loops and roads there?

Thanks and Regards,

Guy

A lightly loaded Jimney with decent tyres will likely handle conditions that would stop a 'Cruiser or Hilux...

Guy
Agree fully with Graham. Jimny will handle all roads around Nambwa with ease.

Thanks Graham and Leon. That is helpful.

Do you have any info on the extent of roads / loops and tracks around the camp area, and if you can follow the Kwando River to the boundary with Botswana?

Hi Graham B

We are doing a trip with 2 Fords, a Land Cruiser and a Jimny from 17 Apr to 3 May on mostly gravel roads in Namibia. We are not going where you are, but we will go up to Agub River and then cut across to Etosha as part of the trip. If you pop a message after that date I’ll have first hand experience to share.

Kind regards / Vriendelike groete
