Good day,

I would like to find a reliable contact who can assist with road conditions and accommodation options in the Underberg area for around March 2026.

We are two elderly travellers with a Hilux 4x4, and we would prefer a rondavel, cottage, or similar self-catering accommodation.

I have found it quite difficult to book through the Natal Parks Board, and the information available seems limited.

I would appreciate any feedback on the Swallowfield Rondavels near Monks Cowl.

Also, according to the KZNWildlife.com website, Injisuthi offers cabins and chalets. Has anyone booked through them before, and are they trustworthy?

Finally, has anyone visited Vergelegen Nature Reserve (south-east of Lotheni Resort), and if so, what was your experience?

Thank you in advance.

In Underberg area we have stayed at Lake Naverone.
Mid-week for pensioners.
We have camped at Loteni and Injisuthi and know that there are chalets.  We booked through https://www.kznwildlife.com/

I have booked both Swallowfield and Injisuthi for my trip in the area in April.

I booked Swallowfield because the owner, James Seymour, is a mountain guide and will be guiding my adult daughter on a four day hike in the area.

Their hike will pass through Injisuthi and I have booked chalets there to meet them that night.

I camped often at Injisuthi in 1974-6 when I could not afford the chalets.

I realise that none of this helps you.

The KZNWildlife.com website is the website of Ezemvelo KwaZulu Natal Wildlife, the old Natal Parks Board.

Given the very low price of the chalets at Injisuthi I suspect they will be quite run down.

They are, however in a wonderful place for hikes.

Let me know how you find these places.
