Good morning,

I am planning to travel to Zambia in my Iveco Camper and Tow my Jimny behind on an A-Frame. Would anyone know if this is allowed? I have heard lots of different views.

Regards

Franques

I don't see why not.
I only know that towing by rope is (officially) not allowed.
I do assume you need to clear 2 cars (interpol clearance, insurance, tip etc)

Which Jimny, Gen 3, Gen 4, manual, automatic, year model?  Because some you can and some you cannot flat tow.

Just for record, below my answer to Franques in off-group discussion we had:
Hi Franques, the standard Gen4 manual can be flat towed with the main gearbox in neutral and the transfer case in high range, so you are good (the automatic not). Suzuki do recommend stopping every 2hrs or 200km and just idle the Jimny's engine for a few minutes to distribute oil in the main gearbox, but I think very few people do it. I have not heard of catastrophic failures, the general consensus seems to be that it does not cause premature wear of the gearbox. Also, AFAIK, if you just tow in the steering unlocked ignition key position, the Jimny does not record its own milage, thus drivetrain wear and recorded milage do not necessarily correspond.
Note that lifted Jimny's without proper castor correction should not be towed as their steering tracking is bad and they tend to wander behind the tow vehicle causing all sorts of trouble.
