I'm using garmin base camp with the T4A maps (gps not attached to laptop)
I get solid lines in areas where I know there are only 4x4 tracks.
It is as if there are parts of someone else's trip/route on it.
I find it confusing and interfering with what I want to plan.
How do I get rid of this?
I haven't saved any trip
I've attached a screenshot

Hallo Anne-Marie,

Since October 2024, we've changed the style of our T4A maps to display better on the newer GPS devices. Unfortunately this also means that it makes a change to how Basecamp displays the map on the computer.

When you install the maps onto your computer, you have an option to install the "T4A Optimised" style, or to untick this to get a simpler style, which is what is shown in your screenshot.

When you install the "T4A Optimised" style, your screen in Basecamp looks like this - you can now see the difference between the 4x4, gravel and tarred roads.

This display is also more in line with what we use on our trip planner and guide app:https://map.tracks4africa.co.za/map. There is a legend that shows the type of roads, which is pretty similiar to the roads in Basecamp.

I hope that helps!

Thanks for the quick reply
I thought I had uploaded "optimized", but apparently not.
So how do I get it right?
Delete the current one and then reinstall with the download link?

And also delete on the GPS (a very old Garmin Drive 40)? And transfer the optimized version?

Hallo Anne-Marie,

You have to "uninstall" the current map, then use the same download you used previously, but make sure that you tick the T4A optimised style. That should fix it!

I did a double check and I still have the download link.
Where can I uninstall the maps? Can I just go to downloads and delete?
I see no option on Garmin Base Camp
And to be clearer about the issue: I can see 4x4 tracks, just occasionally they have formed into solid lines, like someone made a route

Hi Anne-Marie,

It looks like the roads we categorise as "main off-road" that shows as the solid lines.

On Windows, you go to settings and uninstall - just click on the three dotted lines. Unfortunately I don't know the steps for a Mac.
