Good morning we’re travelling from Beit Bridge to Mutare area in Zimbabwe.
Please could anyone recommend lodge type accommodation that offers meals
1. Close to Beit Bridge on the SA side of border
2. Masvingo or Birchenough Bridge area
3. Triangle or Chiredzi area
Many thanks
Ray

Good morning Ray,

Lots of accommodation in Musina, or else self-catering at Tshipise Resort (great pizzas at the restaurant): https://tracks4africa.co.za/listings/item/w360424/tshipise-a-forever-resort/

At (near Masvingo) - Romelda Retreat on the Lake, they have a cottage and a tented camp: https://tracks4africa.co.za/listings/item/w630853/romelda-retreat-cottage/

Regards/Groete

Hi all.
A section of our Zimbabwe tour in September will be the above.
Due to tight booking availability the travel times for this part of the tour became a bit demanding.
Our plan is to leave from Mana Pools to Karoi as early in the morning as possible. 5 or 6am or even earlier if permitted. T4A quotes 3 hrs for that distance.
Then a brief stop in Karoi to replenish diesel and provisions. 1 hr
From there along the Karoi to Binga road to the Tashinga turn-off, to the parks gate (closing 3pm), and into Tashinga Camp. T4A quotes 6 hrs for that.
That's a total of 10hrs but this depends hugely on the road condition.
Has anyone driven this road recently and can give advice on travel time/speed?
Once this part has been mastered, we will be cruising at a much more leisurely pace. 😊
Thank you all.
With kind regards.
Adolf & Sandy

PS We were told that diesel is available in Binga and even in Tashinga. True?

Dear Adolf
Your first 60kms on the Karoi Binga road is tar.
In parts of the dirt section you will average 25kms an hour.
You can buy fuel in Tashinga.
You need to be at Chifudze gate before 3pm or you sleep at the gate.
There is fuel available in Binga.
Tashinga to Maabwe took my guests 9 hours yesterday that’s 270kms in distance.
When you leave Tashinga tell them you want to catch the ferry across the Ume it’s $20.00 for you and your vehicle- they will tell you at Tashinga that this will only save you half an hour - it’s more likely to save you at least 2 hours ( I have done this several times)
The section of road from the Karoi turn off to Binga is very bad. It will take you at least 1 and a half hours to travel 30kms.
If it would help you and if you need diesel I could help you at my camp Maabwe but I would need advance warning.
We are 118kms from cross road via Kamativi - there is fuel at cross roads.
220 from Vic Falls via the Deka road.
Please feel free to contact me if I can be of assistance.
Best regards
Margot

Hi Adolf

I don't think you will get better more up to date info than Margot's.

One thing I can add is that you must ensure that you have sufficient USD cash for fuel purchases. The last time we were there none of the filling stations in Karoi accepted credit cards.

Regards

Emile

Hi every body

Last year in July we drove from Maabwe Bay to Tashinga, it took 10 hours (for an 70 years old carefuly driver).
And from Tashinga to Warthog safari camps in Kariba, it took 9 hours (we turn left after Saniaty bridge at Magogoro on the advise of the management of Warthog.
Fantastic Zim tour
