Kangourousans Frontires is an international association founded in France, which is formed by maths lovers from all over the world. Motivated by the importance of mathematics in the modern world, their passion is to spread the joy of mathematics, support mathematical education in school and promote a positive perception of mathematics in society. The main activity of Kangourou sans Frontires is designing the annual Kangaroo Mathematics Competition. Mathematical problems in multiple-choice form are offered to children of all school levels. The questions are not standard textbook problems and come from a large variety of topics. Besides inspiring ideas, perseverance and creativity, they require imagination, basic computational skills, logical thinking and other problem solving strategies. Often there are small stories, surprising questions and results, which encourage discussions with friends and family. The organisation of the competition in the individual countries is up to the members of Kangourou sans Frontires.
Math Kangaroo (also known as International Mathematical Kangaroo, or Kangourou sans frontires in French) is an international mathematical competition where over 92 countries are represented. There are twelve levels of participation, ranging from grade 1 to grade 12. According to the organizers, the key competence tested by Mathematical Kangaroo is logical combination, not just pure knowledge of formulas.
The competition was established in 1991 by Andr Deledicq, a professor of mathematics at the University of Paris 7, and Jean-Pierre Boudine, professor of mathematics at Marseille. The idea comes from the Australian Mathematics Competition, initiated in 1978 by Peter O'Halloran.
Ioa has been an amazing platform for meritorious knowledge hungry students to test their skills amongst peers of different parts of the world, by hosting international level competitions every year. I have been a participant of vanda, singa, doka, hippo and amo and such exams have really helped me develop my inner strengths. The members are also very helpful and always ready to help you out in any case of problems. A big thumbs up for ioa. 10/10 !!
this year, it was first time i made my child participate in mathematical kangaroo olympiad and i really liked the level of questions asked and the workbook questions. They are mostly based on critical thinking which is an important part of non- routine mathematics. Thankyou for conducting such olympiads at international level.
My son Krishaanth Ramaraj had the best experience to learn this Math Kangaroo online classes. He is happy to learn new concepts and enjoy studying maths. The teacher and coordinator were very supportive and helpful. Sanjay sir worked on his weak area and trained him accordingly. Thanks a lot, Math Kangaroo Team.
Brooks Huang is in 8th grade at Chinese International School, Hong Kong. This class is a good complementary enhancement of his classwork. It was a low teacher to students ratio where students have much better learning.
