to TRACCE Listserv
Dear Colleagues,

I regret to inform that with this notice, Tracce will cease to exist
formally as an organization. As you know, Tracce has barely made head
way beyond having a presence on the Internet and other than occasional
notices from me. I will not go into the reasons why it was not
possible to move forward with the lofty ideals that led to the
formation of Tracce.

However, let me use this opportunity to clarify that Tracce was
neither intended to serve as a rival body to any organization nor were
the original goals of Tracce contradictory to those of other
organizations that seek to improve the standards and professionalism
of African journalism and communications education. With that said, I
hope all members of this listserv will continue to work for the ideals
Tracce stands for in their personal and professional lives.

Administratively, I will allow one month to elapse before deactivating
the list, to give members an opportunity to see this post and provide
whatever feedback they wish to communicate to the list. After one
month I will begin the process of de-listing or unsubscribing all
members from the listserv. I am not now sure of all the technical
details of deactivating the group from the Internet but I will do
whatever is feasible in removing it from the Internet. Thank you all
for your cooperation in this endeavor.

Best regards,

Folu

Dear Folu,
This is really the saddest thing that would happen to any right thinking professional. Iam indeed sad that this noble initiative is its way to Golgota. Lets not throw the baby with the bath water what is the way forward. Lets not allow this body die like that. What do you think? let other members bring suggestions on how we can move forward rather than killing a very good initiative.
Thanks
Dr. Samson Ademagba Sambe

Dear Samson,

Thank you for the kind words and the encouragement. Let's wait for what others have to say before I get back to the group.

Best regards,

I think this is an important initiative worth pursuing even though it didn't do much in the past. If you need any assistance or want to look at collaborating with AMIC as you try and find a footing, we can discuss it. In my new role as the Secretary General of the Asian Media Information and Communication Center, we can explore this partnership with Tracce.

This is a welcome idea. We may tinker with it.

Thank you, Sundeep and all respondents. I will defer further comments on this issue until the end of July, to permit other ideas.

Best wishes
