I updated the version of Trac and now I can not enter the site. Error message in the browser:

Error

TracError: Error reading '/var/trac/sites/mysite/conf/trac.ini', make sure it is readable.

My environtment: Trac 0.12.3 + Ubuntu 11.04 + Postgres 8.4

The guide I used: http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/TracUpgrade

Note:

I changed the parameter for Trac == 1.0

$ sudo easy_install --upgrade Trac==1.0

How do you launch Trac? It sounds like a permission issue, but I've seen
misleading or unexpected error messages before as well, sure.

Can you think of a way, that the UID of the Trac process could be unable
to access the ini file?

Does permission?!? I think not.

What is the default file permission trac.ini?

In the log file says nothing. It seems that the Trac fails to start.

I did change the parameter to correct for Trac == 1.0? In the manual upgrade ta writing Trac == 0.12.

That I know!! I asked what the default permission of trac.ini, type "700"?!?

Finally, just do a chmod-R www-data: www-data dir in my project and now the Trac already open in the browser.

Sorry, this wasn't clear from your request.

Quick-n-easy terminal test session:

$> trac-admin ./test initenv
$> ...
$> ls -al ./test/conf/
drwxr-xr-x 2 user user 4096 Sep 23 09:01 .
drwxr-xr-x 8 user user 4096 Sep 23 09:01 ..
- -rw------- 1 user user 4997 Sep 23 09:01 trac.ini
- -rw-r--r-- 1 user user 5169 Sep 23 09:01 trac.ini.sample
$>

So the answer is '600'. But unless security-related programs like GnuPG
or SSH tracd wouldn't care about too wide permission settings, as long
as it has r/w access itself.

This is exactly, what I had in mind when I queried you about process UID
and permissions. Glad it works.

The command:
$ trac-admin -- version

Shows version 1.0,

however my project in Trac  layout and designer continues in version 0.12 ?!?

I removed my files from <Env>/templates and <Env>/htdocs and then gave permission:
$ [sudo] chown-R www-data:www-data /var/trac

And now showed the layout of the new version 1.0
