Why is COMPONENT spelled in uppercase letters on the trac-hacks search page? Uppercase is usually reserved for permissions and it currently looks odd. "Component" would be a more natural spelling.

Using uppercase for the variable is required by Trac. I don't know why this implementation detail was chosen, but you could search through the issues on t.e.o to try to find if it was discussed in the implementation ticket. Hints to locating relevant ticket:
* Use blame on the source code
* Look at the page history of the documentation
