ArtSway Presents: Mike Marshall | Preview and Artist Reception Saturday 25 June 2011, 2pm - 5pm
Mike Marshall

25 June - 29 August 2011

Preview and Artist Talk
Saturday 25 June 2011, 2pm - 5pm (Artist Talk: 3pm)
FREE: All Welcome
Please join us to celebrate the launch of Mike Marshall's new ArtSway exhibition. The preview will also include a gallery talk by Mike Marshall, in conversation with Dan Howard-Birt (Assistant Curator, Stour Valley Arts) and Peter Bonnell (ArtSway Curator). Marshall will discuss the genesis of his jointly commissioned project with ArtSway and Stour Valley Arts, and his exploration of the two sites of the New Forest (home to ArtSway), and King's Wood (home to Stour Valley Arts).

For his exhibition at ArtSway Mike Marshall is exhibiting two new video works – It Rained and Controlled Burn – and a series of new photographic works from the project A Prism Splits Light. These works continue to develop Marshall’s investigation of conditions relating to thinking, sensing and activity. Here, this interest is pursued through contrasting notions of organic growth, fire, weather and seasonal change against the persistence of human endeavour and the desire for order and control. Mike Marshall’s new work is a co-commission between ArtSway and Stour Valley Arts, with support from the Barker-Mill Foundation.

Further information on the exhibition can be found here on ArtSway’s website.

Open Space by Mike Marshall
Open Space, published by Stour Valley Arts in association with ArtSway, brings together a number of newly commissioned projects by Mike Marshall. This soft-cover, full-colour 96-page publication features texts by Chris Townsend and Robin Wilson and is available to purchase during the ArtSway exhibition.
