Dear All,
I am writing with information on three TPSE initiatives which I'm sure
you'll be interested in. These have emerged from discussions amongst
individuals and organisations within the region and are being taken
forward as part of the agreed TPSE programme.
Firstly, we are planning an event at Towner Gallery on 17th May which will
begin to discuss the crucial issue of how, as a regional sector, we
support artists and their practice. We hope to invite individual artists
to the discussion that have been involved in a range of professional
development, mentoring and Higher Education support schemes. Please save
the date and let me know of any South East artists led projects, groups
and initiatives that you have worked with or are aware of, so that we
have as wide a representation of regional activity as possible on the
day. I will be contacting all the South East Visual Arts organisations
prior to the 17th May to ask them some questions about their support of
artists so that we have an accurate picture of what is currently happening
across the region. More information on the programme of the day to
follow.
In addition, I am asking for 'expressions of interest' from you regarding
TPSE plans for a region-wide event to be held in 2012. The attached
document describes the proposed format for the event and we felt it was
important to 'test the water' and see what ideas and interest exists
around a project that aims to profile the best of the South East Visual
Arts sector through partnership and collaboration. As before, I'd be
grateful if you could forward this 'call out' to any individual or
organisation who you think might be interested and look forward to hearing
from you all by April 19th.
And finally, I am forwarding the following message from Liz Whitehead of
Fabrica who is taking the lead on a TPSE bid to the Future Jobs Fund,
background information on this can be found in the attached document.
Update on TSPE & Future Jobs Fund
New Deal of the Mind are still waiting for confirmation from Department of
Work & Pensions that their bid has been successful – so if there are
organisations that would still like to host placements, there’s still time
to do it.

Group) with a total of 32 proposed placements providing work opportunities
in the following areas:
• Exhibition Space & Volunteer Manager Assistant/Artist Resource Assistant
• Marketing & Communications, Exhibitions, Education, Development
(Fundraising, Sponsorship), Human Resources
• Curatorial Assistant,
• Research Assistant
• Gallery Office/Finance Assistant, Marketing Assistant
• Assistant to Exhibition, Audience Development, Marketing Managers
If you’d like to find out more or host a placement all the information you
need is on the attached sheet – TPSE & FJF. Liz Whitehead is happy to
field
any questions – 01273 778646 –
liz.wh...@fabrica.org.uk.
Equally if its something you feel is not right for your organisation, Liz
would really appreciate an email saying so.
Thank you for your continuing support and have a good Easter break.
