convention November 9-11, 2018 in Fort Worth, Texas!
Are you the parent, teacher, or loved one
of a child who is blind or low vision? Please join us in learning how blind and
low vision people live the lives they want.
Texas Parents of Blind Children would like to invite you to attend our special
parent session on Friday, November 9, 2018 from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. Then rise
early and join us at the NFB Texas annual convention beginning at 9:00am on
Saturday, November 10, 2018. Along with the many great speakers and break-out
sessions, this year on Saturday afternoon we will be holding a Family Cane Walk.
During this workshop you will learn about the long white cane and the structured
discovery method of cane travel. We look forward to meeting all our Texas
families!

7:00pm to 10:00pm
All children ages 4 – 12 years will be
invited to attend a mini NFB BELL Academy! The children will learn about
braille reading, braille writing, technology, and independent living skills
from our awesome BELL teaching staff! Sighted siblings are welcome to attend!
Children ages 13 to 18 years will be
invited to attend the Texas Association of Blind Students annual meeting where
they will have the opportunity to meet other blind and low vision high school
and college students.
7:00pm to 10:00pm
Parents, teachers, and others will be
invited to attend our “Just Enough to Know Better” workshop where you will
learn how to foster blindness skills at home. We will learn about braille, technology, and
independent living skills.

Texas 67th Annual State Convention

The 67th annual convention of the National
Federation of the Blind of Texas has been scheduled for the weekend of November
9-11, 2018. The Radisson Fort Worth North-Fossil Creek, located at 2540 Meacham
Blvd, Fort Worth, TX 76106, is the headquarters for this year’s
convention. Rates for the convention are $90.00 per night, plus tax, and the
hotel is ready to accept your reservation now.

The theme for this year’s convention is
taking care of business. Presenters will discuss issues as diverse as how to
become a part of the Business Enterprises of Texas, how to take care of
Federation Business, how students can take care of the business of education,
and more.
Our Dallas, Fort Worth, and Arlington
Chapters are ready to welcome everyone. We will have hospitality, exhibits, great
seminars, a meeting of our Board of Directors, the presentation of our
scholarships, and a great national report and keynote speech from our national
representative, Everette Bacon.
For those who don’t know him, Everette serves
as president of our Utah affiliate and is a member of our National Federation
of the Blind Board of Directors. You will enjoy getting to know him, and he
will be glad to spend time with as many of you as possible.
