Dear All,
I had the privilege of presenting Udaan and answering questions from a highly enlightened
and high profile audience in the First Giver’s Summit (high profile
philanthropist meet) on October 28th, 2013 in Mumbai. I am enclising some
photographs of the event for reference.
Udaan was appreciated by each and every person – Dr Harish Mariwala suggested
to me that at some stage we should apply for the innovative NGO awards for this
program. We have also been promised help for students and colleges for those
attending (already the organisers Give India had published our project in their
monthly bullentin). Economic Times journalist has also taken full details
separately from me and she may cover the same in some write up of hers.
Udaan was presented as a project with 10X plus impact on society for the money
spent.
The main other co-speakers were:
Padma Bhusan S.Ramadorai (Vice Chairman TCS),
Padma Bhusan M V.Subbiah (former CMD, Murugappa Group),
Padma Bhusan N. Vaghul (former CMD, ICICI)
Dr. Harish Mariwala (CMD, Marico group).
Audience included journalists, NGOs, philanthropists etc.
The lack of colleges in parts other than Eastern India was raised and people
commented that as we are an All India body, we should try to spread the idea
and concept across the country.
There is a group of ex-IITians who are doing something similar by providing
seats in coaching classes for engineering admissions – they are interested in
tying up with us.
