Hey gang - i'm passing along some upcoming  events - see below (w/ Steph's message) re: One Wave Challenge SAT. Jan 23.

This weekend - Sunday, Jan 17, we'll be caravaning to Baja to surf and deliver our donated items (collected @ holiday party) to Door of Faith Orphanage.  It's a one day trip - we'll surf first, then do orphanage - brief visit - then lunch; hopefully at San Miguel to check out the Baja Invitational (surf contest); then home by dinner time.  IF surf is great, and weather permitting, we'll surf twice in one day!  Email me IF you're interested in going so i can give you trip details.

Guys,

I wanted to send you all the information about the one wave challenge which will be happening on January 23, 2016 at La Jolla Shores Beach. As a member of the Board of the Century Club of San Diego, the group that puts on the Farmers Insurance Open each year, we challenged ourself to create another new event this year that would promote golf locally through surfing San Diego Style.  What we came up with was the One Wave Challenge.   We will attempt to break the world record of 112 surfers riding one wave at one time the morning of the 23rd. You can register at www.onewavechallenge.com<http://www.onewavechallenge.com> and all the money raised is going to the local charity of Boys to Men.  Rather than spend too much time explaining the whole event if you go to the website it has the PDF and all of the information on sponsorships and the various things going on that morning.  Surfline is a media partner and they've done a great job already starting to promote this and the coverage should be great for Boys to Men as well as our effort which should be ultimately promoting the Farmers Insurance Open the whole time. This is how we start golf week in San Diego San Diego Style.

I expect that we will sell out the 200 spots but wanted to make sure you all have a chance to participate and certainly if any of you would like to volunteer as was thinking Jark, King and CK for some water control with others it would be much appreciated. Many of you know Joe from surfing down ar Blacks and his organization will be putting on the whole event with bird running the operational support to break the record with the spotters and surf specifics that we need to break the record.  Later we will have this recorded as a Guinness world record once verified. This will be something we do every year to kick off the Farmers Insurance Open and I expect it will get larger and larger and I'm excited to have everyone involved in supporting such a great event for such a great cause.

I'll see you in the water later this week and I hope to see you on the 23rd either volunteering, participating or just coming out to watch us break a world record and make history San Diego style for the world.  I have also copied Joe's email in case you do want to volunteer or be involved in other ways as his organization Boys to Men is putting on the event operationally in support and partnering with the  Century Club of San Diego.
