Hi all,
Today my contract as the TPT coordinator comes to an end and
Threatened Plants Tasmania will be let loose.
However it doesn't all end here, as TPT has a strong executive
committee with Phil Collier as president, Alison Vandenberg as
secretary, Barry Wilson as treasurer and David O'Brien, Michael
Swanton, Michael White and Robin Garnett as committee members. All
inquiries about the group can now be sent to
threatene...@gmail.com.
Over the next few months the threatened orchid burning and monitoring
project will be kick-started by Fiona Coates who will present a talk
on the 2nd and 3rd of November in Hobart and Devonport respectively.
The details are on another post on this website, and keep checking
your emails to find out how you can become more involved the
monitoring side of this project. The committee also hopes to organize
several more weeding working bees at the Pontville and Tunbridge
grassland sites - which between them are home to 28 different
threatened plant species, so keep your eyes peeled.
If you are interested in working on any other threatened plant species
in your local area, please send an email to
threatene...@gmail.com to discuss. Remember there is lots of
information and resources on threatened plants to be found on this
site, and also on
www.dpiw.tas.gov.au/threatenedspecies.
I will still be a member of the group as a volunteer and will perhaps
see you at a threatened grassland one day. If you have any urgent
questions you can contact me at
calder...@gmail.com.
Best wishes,
Jenny Calder
