Hi Michael,

I hope all is well! Thanks again for posting our job ad on the Towson EMF last year. We have since hired a full time employee and have contracted work to a couple Towson alumni.

We’ve been getting a lot of work lately (both in Baltimore and DC) and we need to hire another filmmaker very soon. We are mainly in need of an experienced video editor, but he/she should also be well rounded in all stages of filmmaking including storyboarding, producing, and shooting.

Would you be able to recommend a person who fits the description below? We have run into issues with filmmakers who are obvioulsy very talented, but lack the idea of proper work ethics in an office environment such as time management, priorities, and client etiquette. The person can still be in school and work over the summer, and potentially transition to full-time after graduation.

On a side note, I would be more than happy to meet with you in person at your convenience to chat about any future networking or collaboration we may have.

Below is the job description that I will be posting again on the Towson EMF website.

Thanks!

Michael,

Would you be interested in meeting up one day to talk about how my company and I can be involve with your film program? For instance, I can be involved in mentoring film students, speaking at a panel of local filmmakers, participating in student project critique sessions, etc.

I hope that clarifies my question.
Thanks,
Jason

Hi Michael,

Thanks for connecting with me. Below is a the job ad that I posted with qualifications.

I’d also like to be involved with your film program as a local production company. I believe there are synergies between filmmaking in academia and the professional world. Our company has been around for just over a year and we found Baltimore to be bubbling with great stories to tell across all industries. It would also be great to bring insight to students and professionals about creating impactful and quality films, as well as learning where the industry is heading.

I’d love to chat more about this and if there is a good time to chat over the phone or meet in person, we can schedule for that.

Thanks,
Jason

Thanks for the looking that information for me. The current position is a part-time which could potentially turn into a full time position if the candidate is a good match. I’m looking for a hourly rate number based on 0-1 year experience part time, and a full time salary number based on 0-1 year experience.

John,

Thanks! I will post on your listserv for potential film major hires.

I’ve been connected with several film production companies in Baltimore and all of them have a connection with Towson University in some capacity from recruitment to knowledge sharing. Your program seems to be a catalyst in the filmmaking community in Baltimore and I’d like to both contribute as well as be more involved of this community.

I’ve been in this industry for about 3 years after transitioning out of architecture and I’m seeing a high demand for films/videos in the last couple years. I’d like to hear your thoughts as an experienced and active educator and hope we can benefit one another in one way or another. Would you be interested in meeting up over a cup of coffee to talk more about this? I can come by your office whenever you are available.

I look forward to hearing from you!
Jason

Jason,

Thanks for your inquiry.  The best way to reach our students would be to push to our majors and recent graduates on our listserv.   I would recommend a listing drawn from your initial email:

“I’m the owner and creative director of Lost Note Productions LLC, a full service production company based in Hampden, and I’m looking for an experienced editor for a part-time paid position. Though I am looking for a person with editing skills, the person would also work on all aspects of filmmaking including storyboarding and shooting.

Here is our website to view our work:

Our mantra is to find and tell great stories and most of our work consists of marketing pieces for companies in the Baltimore and Washington D.C. areas. I have a background in architecture and we craft our films with a creative design process.

Thanks!

Feel free to make any changes you see fit and return it to me.  I’ll then post it on the listserv.
