CB 1.6.4
Towny 87

Question is, which file and permission node do I need to alter in order to allow:

A non-resident of a town the capability to use certain blocks (eg, right/left punch to use a SignShop sign, for instance)
A non-resident of a town the capability to not use certain blocks (eg., right/left punch to alter a block function, like a Machine, eg., Steam Turbine)

I see that by default, Towny permits strangers to left/right punch signs (more or less expected behavior, thanks)

But in a "spawn" area protected by Towny, I'd like to also specify distinct block IDs from being "used/switched" in order to prevent mis-use of the block. Eg., if a "spawn" has a certain array of machines for demonstration/visual eye candy, but I need to prevent users from altering the behavior of those distinct block IDs in the town by non-residents.

What kind of permission node should I be looking to alter to configure the behavior as such?

Thanks.

The way to do it is put those machines into the switch list in teh config.

Then use /plot set perm switch on, while standing in the plot with the
switchs you want them to use.

OK.  I added the block IDs (edited for brevity)  to config.yml

item_use_ids:  [Default Block IDs deleted for brevity], 1046:9,2705:4

switch_ids: [Default Block IDs deleted for brevity], 1049:9,2705:4

Then walked to the plot with the items:

Issued:

/plot set perm outsider itemuse off
/plot set perm outsider switch off

The generic non-resident goofball can still fiddle with the items...

That failed to protect the blocks from Use

Tried also:

/plot set perm switch off
/plot set perm itemuse off

Same, no protection from use or switch

Did I misunderstand you?

File a proper issue ticket please.
