Town Names with Dots

Does Towny not like town names with dots? e.g 'Washington_D.C.'

While testing the playername to UUID conversion, Towny would go into safemode on encountering this town name.

There is no sign of the 'Washington_D.C..txt' file.  Acctually I dont think it ever existed.  Ive looked at my Towny backups and it is not in any of them.

I did 'townyadmin town Washington_D.C. rename Washington_DC' on my production server and the residents .txt files have been changed to reflect the new name, but there is still no Towny/data/towns/Washington_DC.txt, and Essentials failed to create a new resident file for the renamed town, though I did find Essentials/userdata/town_washington_d_c_.yml.

I did more renames to see that the Essentials error did not repeat. I did 'Washington_dc' and 'Washington_DC' again with no more errors, but still no Towny/data/Washington_DC.txt.

Im afraid to restart the server for fear the town will vanish!

Is there a way to force towny to write out the towns txt file?

I'm still studying the situation, and looked at the latest change log for 0.86.0.2, which im not running yet.

I did a grep of townblocks/wold/* to see what was recorded for 'Washington_DC' in any of the variants the Mayor has used recently, and came up way short, only 5 of 364 plots, although since he renamed the town yet again in the past hour, the newest name shows up in that search for about 3/4 of the desired number of plots.

If ive been bitten by the "Fix renaming towns so they no longer forget their townblocks part way through updating" bug, is there a fix?  On restart will Towny write to the townblocks/world/* files that have not been updated?

You'll want to replace the mention of the townname in teh townblocks with
w/e name is the proper one, and update to teh latest dev.

there had been a bug in teh saving when a player renames their town too
quickly to numerous names. this bug should be fixed now

Ah, good, i can blame it on the Mayor for spamming 'set name', but still more work for me fixing any lost plots...

Feature Request:  If it is not already implemented, a CoolDown on 'set name'
