Rural India and the Emerging Developmental Challenges
by Anupam Hazra
About
the Book
Although concerted efforts have been made by Government of India through several programs and policies for meeting the needs and requirements of the rural population of this country, but the basic issues like poverty, education, healthcare, employment and overall quality of life still cause concern for rural India. Significant funds have been allocated for rural development but recent development reports and numerous studies conducted across Indian villages reveal that there has not been corresponding improvement as far as the quality of life in rural India is concerned. This book, with a collection of the author’s selected articles published in leading rural development journal Kurukshetra, makes an attempt to provide a comprehensive under- standing about the different emerging issues and challenges, being faced by the country today in the context of sustainable growth of rural India. This book is expected to be useful for the social science scholars and policy-makers of rural India.
