Rosalie Bosquet (aka Madame Max Adolphe)

Rosalie Bosquet (aka Madame Max Adolphe) a female officer within the Tonton Macoutes and later the warden of Fort Dimanche. At Fort Dimanche she personally supervised the torture of countless political prisoners. Francois Duvalier eventually rewarded her work at Fort Dimanche by naming her Supreme Head of the Tonton Macoutes. "Papa Doc" even created a female counterpart to the Macouts - the Fillettes Laleau, who were at least as brutal as the Macoutes.

She was, for a good while, the visible face of this, the most jaded prison and tool of repression, dehumanization and termination for years in Haiti. She first "came to the attention of Francois (Duvalier) during an attempt on his life. While she was a low ranking officer in the Tonton Macaute, her courage impressed the President so much that he promoted her to the position of warden at Fort Dimanche.

At the prison, Adolphe continued her strong support of the government and was known for her interrogations of political prisoners.

"Daily killings, torture, and beatings were typical at the prison during her tenure. After settling in at the prison, she was then promoted to the Supreme Head of the Tonton Macaute."

The Tonton Macoute, although innocently called the militia, were, of course, the violent and criminal "Bogeymen " of President for Life Papa Doc Duvalier, the enforcers of his growing tyranny over Haitians of every walk of life, and whose shocking brutality knew no bounds.

Carl:

As long as there is no serious INVESTIGATION and PROSECUTION there will never be RECONCILIATION ... As for what we chose do do as a country, it will determine our future and that of the next generations of Haitians.

Please answer the following questions and we can roll on the Duvalier subject.

1- How could you have the collaboration of Haitians, when Haiti is a country where most crimes are never prosecuted?
2- Did you ask yourself why in the past 25 years there were no pursuit or prosecution of Duvalierists except some "dress-shows" in the early years?
3-Do you believe that Haiti has a functional judicial system today?
4- Do you perceive the Ministry of Justice as being an independant Institution from the political/governmental realm?
5- Do you think that the declarations of President Martelly in the Duvalier case were innocent? Do you believe that he TRULY supports justice for the victims?
6- What is reconciliation when there has been no prosecution?
7- Can you demonstrate to us that a serious investigation (by any standards) was conducted by Judge Carves prior to rendering his opinion in the Duvalier Case?
8- Do you think that Haitian society is ready to face the consequences of a Duvalier Trial? (Duvalier was not alone in maintaining a dictorial system and may of his accomplices and supporters have remained FREE and NEVER pursued in Haiti)
9- Can you explain why the Duvalier period is not included in the History curriculum in Haitian Schools?
10 - Finally, do you know that no reform of the Judicial system has ever been conducted in Haiti in order to MODERNIZE the legal system, and to make it possible that it called one?

Patriotiquement,
I. Fassinou

Mme. Fassinou,

Where is Ms Rosalie Bosquet (Mme Max Adolphe? Does anyone knows her whereabout?
Does she have a family?
Does she owns properties in Haiti or in the US or elsewhere?

The crimes, the perpetrators and the victims have to be documented for a successful prosecution. Hearsays do not have any weight in a legal system. They might be indicators..

We tried to build a database but we did not have any cooperation from Haitians. Only one person send me pertinent information. Let us be serious!

Ms Fassinou.
We are firmly on your side, the side of justice for all and you know that.

What we are saying is the fact, that in order to have prosecution the case has to be well documented. You answer us that because there are seldom prosecution of that kind in Haiti, that is why they are not documented.
It is the chicken and egg dilemna.

Now, everyone is innocent until proven guilty. The victims have to establish the fact that they were really victims.

What about my question: Where is Rosalie Bosquet? and ....
Sincerely,

Jedi (mirror of Haiti)
