One hundred (100) marines of Haitian extraction will suffice to deliver the Haitian people from the scrooge of the gangs in Haiti.
By Jean H Charles
From 1986 to today at the eve of 2026 some forty years (40) after the departure of the Duvalier, Haiti has been in turmoil continuously. The military intervention that followed the end of the dictator killed the nascent democracy on Election Day on February 7, 1987. Gerard Gourgue a human right advocate was on the way to become the President of Haiti when soldiers open live fire on the electors on their way to the polls.
Haiti never recovers from that incident. After the military intervention there were a succession of illiberal governments including the popular but controversial Jean Bertrand Aristide who groom a cadre of young delinquents who today grew to become the gang army that keeps in custody 85% of the population of Port au Prince.
The bandits have proved so brave and so defiant that they overpower not only the Haitian Police but the scouring Kenyan contingent. They extend their grip to Mirebalais, Lascahobas, to Saut d’Eau and to Petite Riviere, cities in the Center and the Artibonite states of the country.
President Trump that has defied crises in so many parts of the world including Israel and Palestine, India and Pakistan, Armenia and Azerbaijan, Rwanda and RDC, Thailand ad Cambodia, Egypt and Ethiopia, the drug grip in Venezuela that now it is time that he turns his eyes on Haiti to deliver the country from the tight collar of the bandits and usher democracy in that country lost for the past 70 years.
I said seventy years because since 1956 with the departure of President Paul E Magloire, Haiti has lost the march of progress, the way to civilization and the path to democracy. During the Duvalier regime 1956 to 1986 Haiti endured dictators (père et fils Duvalier) that caused millions of Haitians to leave the country and established themselves in the United States, Canada, France and the Dominican Republic.
That wave produces wave of exile citizens continue unabated in the following years after 1986 with the illiberal governments of Jean Bertrand Aristide, Rene Preval, Michel Martelly and Jovenel Moise to the nine member’s government of today. The Haitians fled to Chili and Brazil and profit of the Biden program to settle in the United States.
We are now at this juncture were going to Haiti by plane is almost impossible. The main airport of Port au Prince has been closed to normal traffic. There is a threat that marine commerce will be shut in the next three months if Haiti does not clean its act to ensure port security.
What to do in this explosive situation? We propose President Trump to concentrate on Haiti and fix that problem which lasted 70 years! A presidential order, sending 100 marines with Haitian extraction will suffice to rut out the bandits from their holes and liberate the Haitian population.
They will be helped by the Haitian army and the Haitian police but in particular by the Haitian population that hatred bandits in its midst.
Bringing security into the country will be a small task, but bringing democracy and civilization to Haiti is a monumental task. After the epic story of independence and the eradication of slavery for the globe, Haiti has very little success to show to the world. It all started with the founding Father Toussaint Louverture fighting to death with Andre Rigaud, Jean Jacques Dessalines killed by Alexandre Petion, Henri Christophe in a fierce fight with Alexandre Petion killed himself.
The country never has a period of gestation were grooming each one of the citizens was the policy of the government. In the 1950 the American government tried the Program Pote Kole Point IV that started to educate the Haitians on the principles of nation building. It was cut short by Francois Duvalier. Since than the country has sunk to an abyss without end.
That abyss is also global to wit the popularity of Jeffrey Epstein and Diddy who corrupted most of the leaders of the world. Luckily, they are now censured, and morality is again proper.
Going back to Haiti, the focus should be on improving international confidence while postponing elections matters for better times. For the grace of God, we have in waiting a Haitian leader ready to build up the country from the bottom to the top. I will be there to help him. Better days for Haiti are ahead by harnessing the productive hands of the Haitians in planting, harvesting and exporting its organic avocado, papaya and oranges in winter, its cherimoya in the spring, its mangoes and apricots in summer, its baby banana in autumn.
Some twenty years ago another President, President Bill Clinton has condemned Haiti economy to only textile, it is time that President Donald Trump helps Haiti return to its historical mission as pearl of the islands by sending its produce to the world.
