The World Tourism Day is celebrated every year on September 27th. The
purpose of the event is to raise public awareness on the role of
tourism in the contemporary world and to draw attention to the impact
that tourism has on communities and ecosystems worldwide. This year’s
theme is ‘Tourism and Biodiversity’ and the official celebrations will
take place in Guangdon Province, China.
On this occasion ECOT issued a statement in which it calls for making
biodiversity protection a priority for the governments and the tourism
industry.
