Afternoon Ragnarians,

Another request as I now need to submit three preferred start times for the race on the Friday. I can request any 30 minutes minutes between 7:00 AM and 11:30 AM and I once again need everyone's input.

Now this is where things get complicated as we have elected to have 2 different vans/cars....

VAN 1 MUST BE AT THE STARTING LINE AT LEAST ONE HOUR BEFORE THEIR OFFICIAL START TIME WHILE VAN 2 MUST BE AT THE 6TH 'EXCHANGE' AT LEAST ONE HOUR BEFORE THEIR FIRST LEG (ROUGHLY 5.5 HOURS AFTER VAN 1 MUST BE THERE)

Thomas, John, and Amy - I ask that you think through your travel plans individually as you are not in Birmingham with the main group. Please let us know if any start times do not work with your travel schedule

Birmingham Group
- Think through your availability/preference as well. Our options for the trip are:
  1. Start early and spend the night before in Chattanooga
  2. Start early and wake up at 4 or 5 in Birmingham to drive to Chattanooga (we're already running the next 36 hours so no big deal here)
  3. Start later and drive to Chattanooga Friday morning
  4. Split the vans and only have Van One do options 1 / 2 and Van Two do option 3

Please think through this over the next 24 hours so we can lock in a time and everyone can pull together travel plans. What we decide will also have implications regarding how many days we are renting vans and driving schedules.

PLEASE WEIGH IN ON THIS FORUM AND PROVIDE YOUR CHOICE OF THE FOUR OPTIONS AS WELL AS YOUR PREFERRED START TIME.

Thanks,
Forrest

I vote option 2 around 8 or 9 AM. We will all have to take off work Friday anyways and can save some money by not spending the night in the hotel. Also, that will give us enough time to finish the race and have a lot of time to party.

I am assuming we will all be spending the night in Nashville Saturday night? I can get great hotel rates through work somewhat close to downtown and would be willing to book rooms but we need to pull the trigger soon! Let me know.

Kent

I vote option 2 or 3 so that I can avoid missing more than one day of class. I don't have a preference for a start time.  Have we officially assigned runner positions yet?

I am more than likely going to have to work late Thursday night so I would prefer option 2/3 mid morning (930-1030ish) or 4 but I don't want to mess everyone up.

Ditto the running position question, have we assigned order yet?

I vote option two because I don't have any obligations on Friday. I also think option two makes the most sense in light of what Kent was speaking of. The earlier we arrive in Nashville, the more time we have to enjoy it. More time, more consumption. Plus, running Friday morning will present less problems for our team, because the weather will not be as hot and the traffic will not be as severe for the initial leg of our race. Hope this input helps.

No preference. Can tell you now I will not be driving the 12 hours from NY...was going to fly into Chattanooga Thursday night or Friday morning...if we start early Friday I'll either do a hotel in Chattanooga Friday night or, more likely, fly to Birmingham Thursday and get in on the Friday morning drive, then fly out of Nashville Sat/Sun depending on whether we stick around (I vote yes to that)

I vote 1 or 2, it would be great to get an early start! But it won't break my heart if we go later....  I think I will take a bus from Atlanta to Chattanooga so I'll probly get up there on Thursday night and stay somewhere.  I'm assuming at least someone will be driving back to Chattanooga on Sunday???  And we should definitely stay in Nahsville for the night. No question.

As far as order, we could just use the miles clocked on the google spread sheet to decide, unless anyone already has a slot they really want.
