TT Pro currently has a very extensible gesture engine, making it
relatively easy to detect and add mapping support for any number of
new gestures. it's relatively easy to add detection for things like
circles, "X"s, two-line glyphs (V, ^, L, etc)...and also multi-finger
gestures like two- and three-finger taps and swipes.

another possibility is to add support for accelerometer "gestures":
tilts, shakes, flips, etc should be relatively easy to support.

the main question here is: is it worth it to spend more time adding
more gestures in the near future? are people finding the current set
to be too limiting, or more than enough? personally, i've had a few
occasions when i wished there were more possibilities: mostly, to do
with the fact of trying to use "up"/"down" or "left"/"right" semantics
of gestures to do things that "make sense". also it seems like the
"gesture space" is fairly cluttered -- meaning that at this point, if
you map a lot of gestures, then it's pretty likely that making a
mistake will cause some other unrelated gesture to fire.

anyway...thoughts on this? would people like to see more gestures
supported, or more time spent on other features?

It would be nice to have more gesture capability.

I would personally like to have a set of no gestures mapped and I set
up only the ones that I desire.

Some gestures that I would use would be double right for tab, down
then left for return, X for F11, Circle for DO ( vt220 key - ESC
[29~ ), etc...

I too would love to see more gesture support. I especially think that
accelerometer gestures sound cool. I like the idea of giving the
iphone a little downward tap on the top of it to do "page down".

Thanks,
Peter

cool, we'll definitely look into adding more!

as far setting up gestures from scratch: you can use the "reset
profile" action to remove all gesture mappings, so that you can start
from scratch and create your own mappings. (the best way to do this is
probably to create a new profile, make it active, and then use the
"reset active profile action" -- it's under the "profiles" action
group.) this will get you started with a default set of options, and
no gesture mappings set up.

(one thing to note, if you're using this technique, is that auto-save
will be *off* by default for new profiles -- so you may want to turn
that on, or else be sure to explicitly save your profile after you've
set up some gestures!)

It would be great to have pinch zoom.
