Finally completed my first working prototype of the "Netherblade" using Touchkeys and my own design of XYZ FSR sensors on the neck.
Attached to a CME XKey37 and real wood. It all connects via USB and I modified the Touchkeys software to integrate the neck sensor pads for strumming and various other MIDI expression features.
More improvements to make but it works well.

Love the Touchkeys but I was wondering if anyone else would prefer that the X-axis sensors on the white keys would extend all the way up to the top of the key. I wish I could always get vibrato no matter how high up on the key I am playing.

Cheers
Eric

Hi Eric,

Very cool! Thanks for sharing the images -- looks great. I'd love to see a video if you make one.

On X-axis sensing: yes me too. If I could easily make the whole white key XY sensitive I'd do that, but the chips I'm using at the moment are limited in the number of sensor pads they can use. Even if I got a chip with more pads, scanning them all would reduce the sample rate which so far I haven't wanted to do. There's also the issue of whether you'd actually see a vibrato in the space between the black keys, because the tip of the finger can't really move that much.

Still, it is worth revisiting at some point!

Andrew
