Team,

So we spoke to Mitchell on Friday about the possibility of integrating our TouchBase reader into the official DreamIt Demo Day app.  As long as we have something ready by early next week, I think it should be relatively easy for them to simply add a few more view controllers (screens) into the app.

The benefit is obvious in that it allows for the ability for attendees to test our reader without having to do another download from the app store.  Making sure that everyone has the app and the card is the only way I think our "networking" app can work.  Otherwise, if only a subset of the attendees have it, I think we'll have to stick with a less ambitious activity of a prize lottery.

However, if we want to do this, we need to make sure that it is absolutely flawless.  There are a few concerns with this as of right now:
  • Our plan was to upload the contact database directly onto the app so that we don't have to rely on fast internet connection.  However, if we want to get this in by early next week, I think it's way too early to get all of the registrants' information into a database.
    • So I have a feeling that the slow query speed is due to Parse.  What if we were to query this from MySQL or MongoDB?  How easy is it to implement this and can we get an answer by end of day Monday? If we can't, I suggest we don't integrate our reader into the DreamIt app.
  • The reader still has a failure rate of about 10%, which is way too high.  If we can't bring this to close to 0% by end of day Monday, I suggest we don't integrate our reader into the DreamIt app.
  • If I tap the card from a 90 degree angle, the reader never reads correctly.  I thought we made the reader robust enough to be able to read from anywhere?  We need to fix this problem.
I need to hear from you guys what your thoughts are for this decision.  I'm leaning towards not including it in the DreamIt app, but let me know what you think.

Thanks,

Sai To
