Hi!

I am following up on a tweets-exchange with Dario Taraborelli early this morning:

ScipleNeuro
Scientific literature and RSS: a web- app for that? see what we're working on + code http://t.co/Bb1teUXM

.@ScipleNeuro I see a great opportunity to embed article usage metrics in these feeds and let people use them as filters #altmetrics

@ScipleNeuro what about sharing some initial design ideas with the @totalimpactdev group? https://t.co/Kigw7EHy

He retweeted my blog post (http://sciple.org/scientific-literature-rss-feeds/) on a web-app I am developing (it is more of a proof of concept, though).
This tool is designed for scientists searching for RSS feeds from scientific journals.
Ideally I should be able to rank/filter/recommend the RSS feeds on the basis of my "taste profile".

I'd love to share these ideas with the TI-dev group:
 - Article usage metrics could be embedded in the retrieved feeds as suggested by Dario.
 - Alternatively, this RSS reader could be used to send data about article usage to TI !

Bottom-line:
Can I join the discussion group? is there a procedure to do that? any rule/etiquette to follow?

cheers,

Leo (@ScipleNeuro)

Hi Leo!  Welcome!  You can sign up to the google group at:

No procedures or rules, just general discussion of topics related to total-impact.

We're in the midst of finishing up a new version of our api which should make it pretty easy to embed total-impact stats.  Always interested in new sources of article-level metrics!

Keep us in the loop as your project develops?

Heather
