It looks like we're going to slip a bit on our May 15th release date for our awesome new version (codenamed Jean-Claude). But the good news is that it shouldn't be by much, and we do plan to switch the server to all-python, multi-threaded, blazing-fast, easily-extensible goodness within the next week or so.
The good part of this, you've already heard: it'll be better. Way faster and, more importantly, able to handle a lot more requests per day.
The bad part is that our old API will be instantly deprecated and stop working, so you'll need to switch over to the new one. This'll be better, too, with more endpoints and faster response. We're still working on documenting it, but should have something in the next few days. The biggest change is that a new item will now require
two calls to the API: one to create it, and another one to actually view the metrics. This has the advantage of being the
Proper RESTful Way, but it is
kind of annoying, so we'll plan to roll out some shortcuts in the form of an easily-embeddable javascript badge, and maybe an easy API shortcut endpoint as well.
As always, we're always happy to hear feedback!
