I have been asked to post this message in here, for the clarification of all interested parties:

Dear Graham,

I hope you are well, I would like to add some clarity to reduce any confusion or worries yourself and other scorers may have.

As mentioned in our previous correspondence we were finishing off our internal testing at the time you got in contact. This is nearly finished and PCS Pro will be made available for Scorers in the next week or so.

It will be supported with help documentation, FAQ's and video tutorials as well as our help desk 7 days a week during and in the lead up to the season.

We have been working hard with a group of experienced scorers during the whole process to create the best user experience possible for you.

I hope this helps answer your concerns and if you have any other questions or queries please do not hesitate to get in touch, we are very happy to receive any feedback and suggestions to make PCS Pro as good as it can be.

Kind Regards,

Tom Parry
Play-Cricket Team

Re: [Total Cricket Scorer:2134] Re: TCS V11 Coming Soon . . . . .
I too applied for the early beta v11 for testing and was given the news that it will not talk to Play-Cricket. Any scoring software is of no use if it will not communicate with PC. i then tried it with Richard's Yacado software and it works! At least I can now get used to the new TCS v11 in time for the new season and report any bugs, if I find them, before having to use it for real.

Incidentally, Tom Perry at ECB told me that PCS Pro would be delayed by two weeks from end of February. Now I understand it will be a few more weeks before we can see it and evaluate it. Looks like ECB have shot themselves in the foot again and we may see the new laptop software sometime during the coming season. Not good enough!

For avoidance of any doubt, Tom's message was sent yesterday (11th March), so we should be seeing a version of PCS Pro sometime next week - to coincide with the roadshows.

Malcolm

I hope to see PCS Pro soon. I cannot get to see the Roadshows without travelling over 100 miles and I want to see the software on my own computer, not watch someone else using it.

Chris,

Many thanks for your involvement in this and your reassuring words. Obviously you are one of the privileged scorers who have access to the new software and I am encouraged to hear that I will be pleased with the new program. I cannot get to one of the roadshows without travelling over 100 miles and I do not want to sit and watch someone else using it, I want to load it on my computer and learn its functions etc., at home.

I look forward to seeing the software asap.

There are draft help guides for PCS Pro in the same area of P-C as those for PCS and for the API (https://play-cricket.ecb.co.uk/hc/en-us), if you want to take a look - though I've been told that they are subject to change (to cater for any differences in the pre-season release(s) of the software)  Note: I can't find the promised video tutorials, but these cover off the help documentation and FAQs as well as a Top Tips section.
From Tom's email, it looks like the roadshows should mark the start of more general availability of the software to the whole scoring community, so you should be able to try things out at home soon.

I have a copy of the program :-D

Play-cricket uploaded the help files last week and inadvertently left in the how to download section within the files, so I downloaded it!

That section has since been removed. Only thing at the moment is that you can't log into play-cricket with it.

Hi Craig

What you've managed to download there is a very old copy of the UAT testing program, NOT a production version.  It does not include any of the recent fixes and it will not link to Play-Cricket!  Please ensure that you do not distribute this and that you delete it completely from your system before downloading the release that will become available on Monday.  The version you have managed to acquire will not update, it will require a completely fresh installation.

Only a few more days to wait now......are you all getting excited?

Regards

Chris

I won't be using, I was just interested in the user interface. It's on my work laptop anyway ;-)

Thanks

Oh no it isn't!!  The version on this link is not the Live version for general release.  You will all be notified when it becomes available, which will be very soon.

Chris

I've had a brief look at Pro this morning and it's not a bad start but there are some pretty fundamental problems.

1 - It is possible to open a match from Play-Cricket with both Pro and the mobile version with different players in each app.
2 - It is possible to score the match on both apps with each update overwriting the other.
3 - I create a match between two U7 teams on P-C , download it and my local database is populated with the entire list of players from each club
4 - My local database Officials table is populated with everyone who has ever scored or umpired in each club, some of these people are dead.
5 - I delete the match on P-C, delete it from my local database, delete all the players in my local database yet it is still possible to do an 'Open Match' of the same match which downloads everything again even though the match doesn't exist on P-C
6 - The ball editing is pretty horrendous, it is possible to end up with multiple not out players all with scores, the wickets total wrong, the 'in' batsmen wrong and it is unrecoverable without starting from scratch.

There are quite a number of other bugs and inconsistencies which one would hope will be fixed before the season starts.

Richard
