Hello folks,

TCS v10 has been released and is available for download.  A WORD OF WARNING!  Be sure you have taken (at least 1) backup of your existing database BEFORE you do the download.  Once you have downloaded v10 and activated it in the normal way, you can then import your v9 database.

The new Law regarding the scoring of No Balls with associated runs off of the bat, byes and leg byes has been addressed.  Unfortunately these 'new' extras don't appear in the toolbar if you have selected "classic toolbars" in the options.

My very limited experience of v10 (the last half an hour or so), is that it appears to be more stable than its' predecessor.

Time will tell.....

Hi,
Have downloaded v10 and seems more robust so far. A problem I had with the name of the team batting seems to have been sorted - at last!
Disappointed that they haven't done anything about the wasted space around the headings on the windows or the colour of the Wagon Wheel Entry window. These are fairly small things but important when you're scoring.
if they'd sorted the wasted space then we could have used it to get all the icons for No Ball +B/LB in the Classic Toolbar view.
Do you think they actually listen to what scorers want?

Downloaded and installed it, but there seems to be a distinct lack of any release notes (Usually added to https://support.crichq.com/hc/en-us/sections/203872398-Release-Notes)

Anyone else using the toolbars instead of the ribbon?  Looks like Edit Balls has disappeared from the Innings Events toolbar, and is only available via the menus (or the Quick Access Toolbar, if you put it there).
I've never quite understood why I wasn't able to use any command on any toolbar (or, indeed, to create my own custom toolbars) ...

Anyone else having problems with fonts displaying incorrectly in scorebook view?

Hi Richard

Yes I do. As well as in version 9.
I added a post to the forum a. Few weeks ago about it.
I am running TCS on a Mac using a Windows emulator though.
But I’ve always done that with previous versions without any issues.

To date I haven’t had any solutions offered.

Regards
Mark

I recall reading a previous post where the writer carried out an uninstall and reinstall, which seemed to overcome the problem.

Has anyone tried to replace the DB in TCS 8 with one from V10?

TCS9 is complaining about the DB version when importing a V10 database.

Hi Richard,

There should be upwards compatibility (V10 reading V8/V9 databases), but not necessarily the opposite - so this is expected behaviour.

After all, V10 may have introduced fields that V8 knows nothing about, and therefore V8 doesn't know how to handle them.
V10, on the other hand, should have been designed to know what a V8 or V9 database looks like and to ignore or reformat any removed/changed records.

Regards

Malcolm

Thanks Malcolm,

I was actually testing to see if the schema is the same and it would appear to be - you can modify the DBVersion table in the TCS database and change the version field from 10.0.00.00 to say 9.0.04.01
