A PERSONAL NOTE FROM SHIHAN -

On Sunday, July 7, we held a Black Belt Promotion. There were 9 candidates, with 2 of them being promoted from #4 Kyu Brown to Shodan (First Degree Black Belt).
As usual, it was a long and difficult test of skills and endurance, but in the end, all candidates were awarded their Belts. Perhaps the most impressive part of the test
was the Tamishiwari portion, (meaning self-test) or board breaking. Every student performed multiple breaks successfully! Students broke as many as 5, 6 and 7
boards, their choice to do, a very impressive self-test. I was extremely pleased and proud of the students' willingness to "try more".

 

Sensei Charles Gagnon, in honor of his Sandan promotion (Third Degree Black Belt) successfully and very easily broke a Louisville Slugger! That bat will be mounted and displayed in the dojo soon for all to see.

I want to take this opportunity to say how proud I am of these students who truly demonstrated, through their commitment to training and discipline, excellent skills
and performance of all the martial arts techniques required for their promotions. All these students have trained a good number of years, with some of the higher Degree
Black Belts training as many as 15 years. It is as much a thrill for me to promote a student who demonstates excellent skills to Black Belt or a higher Degree as it is for
the student to receive that honor, and I am confident that they will continue to strengthen and perfect their skills with further training. It is, therefore, my great
pleasure to announce the following students who were honored with their Black Belt Promotion:

Sensei Michael Hood - Yodan(Fourth Degree Black Belt)

Amanda LaMattina - Yodan 

Amanda was also formally promoted to the title of

Sensei Amanda LaMattina.

Douglas Geller - Yodan 

Doug was also formally promoted to the title of

Sensei Douglas Geller.

Toshindo Schedule

 

Children's classes are Monday Thru Thursday 4:15pm-5:30 pm, 5:30pm-6:45pm. All are welcomed to appropriate classes during the week except Thursdays 5:30pm class which is only for Advanced students!  Absolutely no beginner belts in this class. Saturdays 10:15am-11:30am and 11:30am-12:45pm.  Tuesdays 5:30pm Class will be Children's Kata/Weapons class,   With some tamishiware if there is interest.

 

Adult classes are held on, Mondays and Wednesdays 8:15pm and Saturday 12:45pm Open Class.  All are welcomed to this class but keep in mind that it is a longer and strenuous class.

Tuition was due Saturday July 6,.  Please make every effort to make payments on time.

Tuition is due by the 5th of every month.  The month encompasses the 1st day of the month to the last day of the month.  Monthly tuition is not prorated.  Whether your child attends 4 times a month or 16 times, the fee is the same and should be paid at the beginning of the month.  Preferably the 1st class you attend of that month but no later than the 5th of that month. 

 

If you start a month , no matter what day of the month you start, and take 1 class, you are liable for the entire months tuition.  Since Toshindo  has no way of determining individual plans, it is your responsibility to see that the student attends the classes for the month.  Toshindo does not bill for individual classes.  Taking classes in any portion of a calendar month requires that Months tuition to be paid on full.  see above for special summer.

 

Toshindo does not require you sign extended contracts to participate but we do require that the  fee schedule is adhered to.  Toshindo believes that our prices are the most affordable around and would appreciate prompt payment so that we can continue to offer such great Training at an affordable price.   Payments for promotions are due prior to taking your promotion tests.

Lateness

 

Shihan understands that lateness sometimes cannot be helped but please make every effort to try and report for class on time.    Shihan understands that classes may run longer than scheduled, if you must leave please let an instructor know.  Shihan understands that everyone has other responsibilities but we want to make sure that you get at least 1 hour of training in.  Thank you all!

Toshindo does Parties.  If you have a youngster or know someone who would like to have a Karate birthday, we do BD parties for a very reasonable rate.  Please see Mrs. Bea for details and she will be able to schedule a fantastic Karate Birthday party for you.  So spread the word.

Our embroidered T-Shirts have arrived! They are $23, and come in a variety of colors. Students are permitted to train in a Toshindo T during the summer months only! See Ms. Bea in the office! We will also be ordering Toshindo Sweatshirts for the Fall. Either Cew Neck ($30) or Pull-over Hoodie (price to be determined) will be available. If you are interested, see Ms. Bea.

There is Gear in the shop.  You MUST purchase sparring equipment from the school.
