Subject: TurboGears Need For Speed Sprint - April 25-26
To: TurboGears Trunk
TurboGears is hosting a "Need for Speed" sprint on April 25th at Bivio
Software in Boulder, CO as well as remotely across the world. TG is
fast, but we want to get even more performance out of our full-stack
application. We are enlisting your help with profiling to see how much
faster we can make TG. If you have profiling skills, or want to learn
about profiling, and have an interest in the guts of TG, please come
and contribute!
Here are some of the tasks we have queued up:
1. Create a "stripped down" paster template which has as little in the
TG2 stack as possible to create a usable Object-Dispatchy System. This
could make for a nice baseline.
2. Profile Your own instance of TG to see where we might improve.
3. Take a look at repoze.who and possibly remove logging slowdowns.
4. Investigate and fix TW slowdowns.
5. Integrate Pylons 1.x with TG2.1 codebase. (Pylons 1.0 is supposedly
faster than 0.9.7)
6. Create a way to cache routes for known paths in the object/rest
dispatch.
7. Replace TurboJson dependency with SimpleJson.
