Hi,

after upgrading from TortoiseSVN 1.14.9 to 1.15.0 (x64), every access to our svnserve repository via svn:// crashes, both in TortoiseProc (checkout dialog -> "TortoiseSVN x64 has stopped working") and in the bundled command line client.

Environment
- TortoiseSVN 1.15.0 x64, Windows 11
- svn, version 1.15.0 (r1937767), compiled Sep 27 2026
- ra_svn with Cyrus SASL authentication
- Server: svnserve with SASL enabled, DIGEST-MD5 as the only offered mechanism

Steps to reproduce
  svn info svn://<server>/<repo>
-> process exits immediately without any output, exit code -1073741819 (0xC0000005)
The same happens with svn checkout and with every TortoiseSVN dialog that contacts the server.

Windows Event Log (Application, Event ID 1000), identical for every attempt:
  Faulting application: svn.exe, version 1.15.0.37223, timestamp 0x6ab96a60
  Faulting module: saslDIGESTMD5.dll, version 2.1.28.0, timestamp 0x6ab969e4
  Exception code: 0xc0000005
  Fault offset: 0x00000000001181ae
  Module path: C:\Program Files\TortoiseSVN\bin\saslDIGESTMD5.dll

Additional findings
- Renaming saslDIGESTMD5.dll stops the crash, but the client then fails with
  E170013 / E210007: Cannot negotiate authentication mechanism
(expected, since the server only offers DIGEST-MD5).
- Reinstalling 1.14.9 fixes the problem immediately with the same server and credentials.
- Possibly related to the update to OpenSSL 3.5.x (DIGEST-MD5 relies on legacy MD5/RC4/DES routines), but I have not verified this.

Crash reports were also submitted via the built-in DrDump dialog today (4 Nov 2026).

Happy to test a fixed build or provide further information.

Best regards

Thanks for the report.
I think this should be fixed with r29837. But I don't have a setup where I can test this.
