Hello.

I installed the latest TortoiseSVN version with the console client support. However the client failed to check out the repository I needed with error

"svn: E210007: Cannot negotiate authentication mechanism".

After doing some searching I found out that this problem occured only with the repository which had URL starting by 'svn://'. Other repositories included those hosted on Sourceforge and Google code worked fine.

I found the solution here:

It was simple: I only needed to add one key to the Windows registry
(SearchPath in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Carnegie Mellon\Project Cyrus\SASL Library set to TortoiseSVN bin directory).

It worked. My colleagues had the same problem and the same solution was fine for them too.

I guess it is TortoiseSVN installer's fault that this key is not set up properly.

System info: Windows 7 64 bit (32 bit also had this problem which could be solved in the same way)

This manual fix is still needed to get the console commands to work for TortoiseSVN v1.7.9 when accessing SASL encrypted repositories.

I just reinstalled my computer from scratch with "Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit", and "TortoiseSVN 1.7.9, Build 23248 - 64 Bit , 2012/08/30 18:25:37"

And accessing SASL Encrypted repositories works when accessing the through TortoiseSVN's normal menus, but when trying the console commands it did report
"svn: E210007: Cannot negotiate authentication mechanism"

So, by just adding SearchPath as described in previous post, fixed the problem.

Hopefully will the installer be fixed so that it adds this to the Windows registry during installation (when console commands are requested).
