I originally reported this to the us...@subversion.apache.org list, but after determining that it was specific to the svn.exe that ships with TortoiseSvn it was suggested to raise it here.

There seems to be a problem when svn.exe prompts for user input

eg.

My AD domain password changed recently, and so running 'svn update' is now prompting me to enter my new password.

If I run this from the PowerShell command prompt, I enter the first character of my password and then the UI locks up.

eg.

D:\dev\svn\MyProject> svn update
Updating '.':
Authentication realm: <https://svn.server.com:443> SVN Server
Password for 'dgardiner': *

I had the same problem with a merge conflict which prompted for user input.

I get the same problem from cmd.exe too.

I downloaded the latest TortoiseSVN build along with debug symbols and got the following stack trace after attaching to svn.exe and breaking:

Thanks. I did skim recent posts but obviously should have looked a bit further.

I'm having the same problem on several computers. Is there a workaround?

You could use an alternative distribution that presumably was compiled with an older tool chain - the VisualSVN command line package worked for me.

Hopefully either Windows and/or the library will be fixed soon and then the problem will be resolved properly.
