I have installed TortoiseSVN on XAMPP on Windows 10. I work solo, and have created the repository at F:\svn_repos - a hard drive on the same computer.

I tested it by taking an existing project, c:\develop0\lf\www, and importing it, which took some time as the project is big.

I then renamed  c:\develop0\lf\www to c:\develop0\lf\wwwPRE-SVN. I created an empty new folder with the same name as before, c:\develop0\lf\www
This is so that the editor, apache, etc can find all the files without amendment.

I then checked out to project to c:\develop0\lf\www. Some screen activity, and all the files are back where they should be.

HOWEVER, the manual says "Every file has a green check mark in the bottom left corner" - I don't see this.

I amended one file, and can see the amendment in TortoiseSVN → Diff, so everything seems to be OK, apart from the green check mark!

I am viewing the files in Windows Explorer - View Details.

What have I done wrong?

Thanks, I think that I have already done that.

Settings -> Icon Overlays -> Fixed Drives

As this appears not to have fixed the issue, I added Removable Drives, Network Drives, RAM Drives, and Unknown Drives.

- Desperation setting in!

I also added Include Paths, which I didn't have before
C:\develop0\lf\www

And restarted the computer - with no effect.

The repository is at F:\svn_repos - this is an external SSD 5TB drive attached to a USB port.

settings dialog->Overlay Handlers. Click the button "Start registry editor" and find out if there are too many other overlay handlers installed. Sometime TSVN doesn't get a free handler space...

I visited the Registry Editor, and saw that the Tortoise1 to Tortoise9  entries were in ShellIconOverlayHandlers. I assume that all you wanted me to do was see if they were there.

I have also tried shutting down the firewall, to see if that made a difference, but it didn't.

No, you have to check what other handlers are there. If there are too many, TSVN can't show the overlays.

YEAH!

I deleted all the Dropbox handlers, I can live without the dropbox ovedlay icons. I deleted the Microsoft stuff, it came with the computer and I don't use Microsoft if I can help it.

I hadn't read the section you pointed me to,

"The overlay icons appear, but not all of them!"

because it didn't appear to apply - the overlay icons did not appear. But the answer was there.

Thanks for your patience, Stefan.
