The log windows crashes and closes itself instantly if:

a) The 'Include merged revisions' option is ticked while the 'Stop on copy/rename' option is deselected.
b) The 'Include merged revisions' option is ticked while the 'Stop on copy/rename' option is selected, and then the 'Stop on copy/rename' option is selected, and the 'Show All' button is pressed.

The issue is present whether you are viewing the trunk or a branch.

1.12.0, Build 28568 - 64 Bit

Sorry, I can not reproduce this. No matter what combination of checkboxes I use in the log dialog and also no matter for which repo I show the log for.
Even starting the log dialog from the merge dialog makes no difference: I get no crash.

do you have some more info about your setup which might help?

Hi Stefan, and thank you for your swift reply.

I will get a colleague to test on his computer and will get back to you asap. I do recall him mentioning he’s seen the same issue.

Best regards,

Just a minor bit of additional information, we're currently working from a file based repository on a network share - I realise this isn't the ideal scenario but it's what we've got to work with at present. I don't know whether it would make a difference to this error or not though.

It's not just "not ideal" but completely wrong. I have to assume that your repo is corrupt and that's why you get the crashs.
