Hello,
I'm using Tortoise SVN for downloading (SVN checkout) a GitHub repository, https://github.com/Embarcadero/RADStudio12Demos.git.
After some successfully downloaded items, the following error raises and stops the download:
The XML response contains invalid XML
Malformed XML: no element found at line 10315
TortoiseError#1.png
-> Should I warn the owner /administrator of the GitHub repository about that failure, because this error is supposed to happen also for other Versionning software?

Note that I already read that post -> https://groups.google.com/g/tortoisesvn/c/w5Y1DvGCp8s/m/-RqO-ce6CQAJ
.. and my answer to that is that I prefer using Tortoise SVN, because I'm used to it and want to avoid the usage of multiple versionning systems.

Thanks for your help

I have not checked but I would presume that there is an error in the Github Subversion bridge. I'm fairly sure you will not see this problem if you use a Git client.

Please note that Github will retire the Subversion bridge on January 8, 2024, see this blog post: https://github.blog/2023-01-20-sunsetting-subversion-support/

Considering this, I don't think it would be useful to investigate further on our end or to report the error to Github.

I would suggest that you look at TortoiseGit which is a close sibling of TortoiseSVN when it comes to the user interface. You can even install them simultaneously if you need to access both Git and Subversion repositories.

Kind regards,
Daniel

@Daniel, your answer is very instructive.. and above all, after having installed the proposed TortoiseGit, resolved my problem!
-> Thanks a lot!
