This sounds a *bit* unlikely - at least to have been caused by TSVN. A
lot of people (myself included) have been running it on Windows 7 for
several months, with the most common complaint having to do with icon
overlays - and that has been fixed in a nightly build a few weeks ago.
WHICH Windows 7, 32 or 64 -bit, and do you have any A/V software installed?

Sorry but I'm not willing to try this again as this is my working PC, have other OSes installed and have to use custom ATA/RAID drives every time I boot from Windows7 installation DVD..

Have you tried older TortoiseSVN version?
Thank you, Pepca

A little piece of advice: check your harddrive thoroughly and then
reinstall Windows again before you even start using that computer for
work. Because TSVN does not and never, ever will even touch the MBR. If
it got damaged, either your harddrive is already dying or your computer is.
