Hi,

I am using TortoiseSVN 1.6.11 (Build 20210 - 64 Bit , 2010/09/30 20:36:44, Subversion 1.6.13, apr 1.3.8, apr-utils 1.3.9. neon 0.29.4, OpenSSL 0.9.8o 01 Jun 2010, zlib 1.2.3) under Windows 7 to export software successfully.

When I right click in the receiving directory the Update option is not visible. If I choose Tortoise SVN again the sub-options do not include Update.

I have looked at settings and have made sure 'Update' is ticked in the Context Menu section. How can I enable the Update option?

If you "export", you won't get a working copy, just a copy of the files.
You won't be able to update them or do other working copy operations.
Use "checkout" to get a working copy.

If you really mean that you exported the files from SVN, then you do *not* have a working copy and therefore the exported directory *cannot* be updated.

Instead of exporting, you should check-out the files you want. Then you have a working copy, which you can update.

Thanks for the advice. I can now see the update option.

However, when I use checkout, with or without creating a repository in the target directory first, the transfer fails with following messages.

Error: Can't move 'C:\Users\Bob\Documents\Downloads\Museum
Error: Software\Checkout\cleanup_before_release\app\controllers\editor\representation_annotations\_svn\tmp\entries'
Error: to 'C:\Users\Bob\Documents\Downloads\Museum
Error: Software\Checkout\cleanup_before_release\app\controllers\editor\representation_annotations\_svn\entries':
Error: The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.

Advice please.

Bob

Nag Microsoft for a fix. It's an NTFS problem on Win7.

Hi Andy,

Thanks for the explanation. I decided to use a laptop with Windows XP, a faster option than getting Microsoft to fix the problem in Windows 7. Problem solved.

Thanks again.
